The following list is selective. Many of Verne’s novels have been recorded, but most audio versions use public domain, Victorian-era translations that are not always noted for their accuracy or completeness. For that reason, the list is divided into two parts: the first includes audiobooks that are based on recent, complete translations; the second includes additional titles that use older translations that are considered “respectable.” In both lists, the books are arranged in chronological order of the French publication.
There are dozens if not hundreds of Verne audiobooks using older translations. The economics of the audiobook industry are such that classics are almost always based on public domain texts, and with Verne that can be a problem. Titles included may be included here for a number of reasons:
